3.1 _L_i_b_r_a_r_i_e_s
+o The desktop libraries and content viewer libraries are
now installed into /_u_s_r/_l_i_b_3_2/_i_n_t_e_r_n_a_l instead of
/_u_s_r/_l_i_b_3_2/.
+o The content viewer libraries are now compiled both n32
and o32, to support programs that still use the old o32
versions (ex., Adobe Premiere).
3.2 _I_c_o_n_s__a_n_d__F_T_R_s
+o AAAAddddddddiiiinnnngggg IIIIccccoooonnnnssss ((((ffffoooorrrr EEEEnnnndddd UUUUsssseeeerrrrssss)))) In IRIX 6.5, end users can
design their own desktop icons without needing root
permission. For instructions, see the detailed
comments in the /_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_f_i_l_e_t_y_p_e/_M_a_k_e_f_i_l_e._p_e_r_s_o_n_a_l
file.
Developers need do nothing to support end users'
personal desktop icons, as the desktop filetype
libraries handle them automatically. If desired,
developers can omit support for end users' personal
desktop icons within their applications. Developers
who install iiiimmmmddddddddeeeesssskkkkttttoooopppp____rrrrooooooootttt can see the
/_u_s_r/_i_n_c_l_u_d_e/_i_m_d/_f_t_r_T_y_p_e_C._h header file for more
information.
+o FFFFTTTTRRRR CCCCoooommmmppppiiiilllleeeerrrr The ftr(1) compiler in IRIX 6.3 and later
releases no longer supports the old ctr file format.
Only the new fftr(1) compiler and its otr format is
supported. All tools now use the new style oooottttrrrr format
file typing databases (for example,
/usr/lib/filetype/desktop.otr), created by the fftr(1)
compiler.

+o AAAAddddddddiiiinnnngggg IIIIccccoooonnnnssss ((((ffffoooorrrr DDDDeeeevvvveeeellllooooppppeeeerrrrssss)))) If you install a new icon
into a directory under /usr/lib/filetype (place the
.ftr and .fti files in the appropriate directories),
you must run make -u from the /usr/lib/filetype
directory. Changes will not take effect until the next
login.
Adding an icon to the iconbook system page causes the
icon to appear in each user's iconbook. Removing the
icon (.ftr and .fti files) from the system page does
not remove the icon from each user's page.
3.3 _T_a_g_s
+o The _t_a_g_s_c_r_i_p_t file has been removed from the
ddddeeeesssskkkkttttoooopppp____bbbbaaaasssseeee product. It was a possible source of
confusion because it was run in an exitop at
installation time. When it tagged applications their
modification dates would change as a side effect,
making the applications appear to be new when they were
not.
Note: These release notes cover only those changes in the
ddddeeeesssskkkkttttoooopppp____bbbbaaaasssseeee subsystem from IRIX 6.4 to IRIX 6.5. For
information about changes between other previous releases,
see the appropriate past release's release notes.
